The Centre men's lacrosse team completed a perfect run on its midseason road trip, winning its sixth consecutive road game with a 26-6 victory over Oglethorpe in Atlanta, Ga.
Centre got a balanced scoring effort to record its 26 goals, with 15 Colonels entering the scoring column. Freshman Aidan Leonard (Nashville, Tenn.) led the way for Centre with four goals, while sophomore Joey Lencewicz (Gates Mills, Ohio) scored three. The list of Centre players who scored two goals included seniors Connor Stubbs (Decatur, Ga.) and Peter Murphy (Louisville, Ky.) junior Phillip Malloy (Louisville, Ky.), sophomore Conor Bennett (Alpharetta, Ga.) and freshmen Mitchell Kraus (Louisville, Ky.) and Austin Zehnder (Prospect, Ky.). Seniors Neil Borgman (Louisville, Ky.), Patrick Evans (Louisville, Ky.), Patrick Vaughn (Signal Mountain, Tenn.) and Andrew Holmgren (Franklin, Tenn.), junior Morgan Mayes (Prospect, Ky.) and freshmen Lorenzo Powell (Seattle, Wash.) and Connor Thuss (Stamford, Conn.) all recorded one goal in the victory.
Phillip Malloy and Austin Zehnder each recorded a team-high three of the Colonels' 13 assists in the game. Senior Corey Krill (Louisville, Ky.) and junior Wesley Hardman (Narragansett, R.I.) joined Connor Stubbs, Andrew Holmgren, Peter Murphy, Mitchell Kraus and Aidan Leonard in the assist column. For the game the Colonels outshot the Stormy Petrels 48-31, held a 27-18 advantage in ground balls and forced Oglethorpe into committing 27 turnovers.
The Centre men's lacrosse team will return to Danville for its final two regular season games. They will play Hendrix on Apr. 11th at 7:00 P.M. and will celebrate Senior Day with a 1:00 P.M. game against Rhodes on Apr. 13th.
