Centre men finish second at SAA Championships
HAMPTON, Ga. – The Centre men's cross country team had one of its best finishes of the season at the Southern Athletic Association Championships at Oglethorpe, finishing as conference runners-up with three runners earning All-Conference honors.
The Colonels finished with 74 points on the day to edge third place Berry by four points. Rhodes won this year's SAA Men's Cross Country Championship, with Oglethorpe and Sewanee rounding out the top five.
Individually, the top time of the day for the Colonels belonged to senior Nathan Riggs (Campbellsville, Ky.), who placed fourth overall with a time of 26:26.22 on the 8k course to earn a spot on the All-SAA First Team.
Junior Keenan Jones (Frankfort, Ky.) earned All-SAA Second Team honors, finishing tenth overall with a time of 27:45.27.
Sophomore Matthew Gray (Fort Thomas, Ky.) finished right behind Jones in 11th place, posting a time of 27:57.76 for an All-SAA Honorable Mention selection.
Senior Christian Apel (Milton, Ky.), freshman David McGrade (New Orleans, La.) and sophomore Cameron Durham (Savannah, Ga.) finished back to back to back to round out the rest of Centre's top times for the meet as they clocked between 28:48 and 28:58.
Next up for the Colonels will be the South/Southeast Regional Championships at Christopher Newport on Nov. 11.
