JEKYLL ISLAND, Ga. - The first 36 holes are in the books from the Jekyll Island Women's Collegiate at Indian Mound G.C. and the Centre women's golf team remains in eighth place, currently tied with DePauw.
The Colonels improved on their Friday score of 320 on Friday with a score of 312 on Saturday. Their two-day team score of 632 ties with DePauw, who fired a round of 314 today. Centre sits just one shot back of both Berry and Washington & Lee, who are tied for sixth place.
Individually, the low score of the day for the Colonels came courtesy of senior Eliza Hudson (Mauckport, Ind.), who played her front nine at one over par and finished with a score of 76 for the day.
Freshman Bailey Plourde (Newcastle, Maine) remains Centre's low scorer for the tournament after posting a score of 77 on Saturday. Plourde also excelled on the front nine, making birdies on two of her first three holes to sit in a tie for 11th place overall on the individual leaderboard.
Tying with Hudson after two days, senior Alison Miller (Lexington, Ky.) finished with a round of 79 on Saturday for the Colonels' third sub-80 score of the day on the difficult course. Miller and Hudson are currently tied for 33rd place with two-day scores of 158.
Senior Madison Grant (Lexington, Ky.) and sophomore Cameron Cahill (Lexington, Ky.) complete Centre's Saturday totals with respective scores of 80 and 89 as Grant played a particularly solid front nine for the Colonels.
The Jekyll Island Women's Collegiate will conclude on Sunday with the third and final day of play.
