Berry College has canceled Saturday's scheduled women's lacrosse game with Centre after injuries left Berry without enough healthy players to field a full team, the school announced Thursday.
The game is considered a "no contest" by NCAA rules, and Centre is credited with a 1-0 victory. The Colonels finish the regular season with a 9-6 overall record and a 4-1 record in Southern Athletic Association play while Berry moves to 7-8 overall and 2-3 in the conference.
With the result, Centre clinches the No. 2 seed in the SAA Tournament and a quarterfinal bye. Sewanee holds the No. 1 seed with a 4-0 conference record going into its final game and would hold the tie-breaker over Centre by virtue of a head-to-head win on March 2.
Complete SAA Tournament pairings and seeding will be determined after this weekend's games. Centre will meet the winner of the No. 3 vs. No. 6 game at Sewanee on Saturday, April 27.
