The Centre women's lacrosse team played its second of three road games this week in Conway, Ark., defeating the Hendrix Warriors by a score of 18-2 and remaining unbeaten in SAA play at 4-0.
Senior Meg Hawthorne (Cary, N.C.), junior Emily Madden (Louisville, Ky.) and sophomore Jacqueline Anderson (Louisville, Ky.) each paced the Colonels with four goals while junior Audrey Powers (Chattanooga, Tenn.) recorded a team high three assists in the win. Senior Sarah Mastey (Chattanooga, Tenn.) added three goals of her own in the win. Additional goals came courtesy of junior Andrea Merchak (Lexington, Ky.), sophomore Elizabeth Manson (Lexington, Ky.) and freshman Ellen Resinger (Louisville, Ky.). Along with the five assists by Audrey Powers, Meg Hawthorne and senior Katy Cremer (Hudson, Ohio) also recorded assists for the Colonels. Junior Allison Eisner (Louisville, Ky.) stopped 11 of the 13 shots she faced in goal.
Centre scored nine goals in each half against the Warriors, outshooting Hendrix 35-14 and holding a 34-22 advantage in ground balls. The Colonels never allowed Hendrix to build any momentum in the game, gradually building their lead in the first half and scoring within two minutes after both of the Warriors' goals in the first half. Centre held Hendrix scoreless for the final 39 minutes and 43 seconds of the game and scored the contest's last 12 goals, with Sarah Mastey, Emily Madden and Jacqueline Anderson each scoring a pair of goals in the second half.
The Centre women's lacrosse team will conclude its three-game road trip with a Sunday afternoon game at Millsaps scheduled for 4:00 P.M. CDT.
