The win streak of the Centre women's lacrosse team ended at nine games as the Colonels fell 14-5 at Denison in a game that had originally been scheduled earlier in the season but had been postponed due to inclement weather.
Sophomore Jacqueline Anderson (Louisville, Ky.) scored the first Centre goal of the game off an assist from senior Katy Cremer (Hudson, Ohio) six minutes in to cut the Big Red lead to 2-1, but Denison would reel off the next seven goals of the contest in the following 16 minutes. Senior Meg Hawthorne (Cary, N.C.) would score on a free position shot with five minutes remaining, but the Big Red would score the final two goals of the half to create an 11-2 deficit the Colonels could not overcome.
The Colonels did play the Big Red evenly in the second half as senior Sarah Mastey (Chattanooga, Tenn.) scored one goal and juniors Emily Madden (Louisville, Ky.) and Audrey Powers (Chattanooga, Tenn.) each tallied one goal and one assist. Centre picked up 24 ground balls in the game and forced Denison into 29 turnovers for the afternoon.
Centre will look to cap off a perfect SAA slate when they play Oglethorpe at home on Apr. 12th at 7:00 P.M.
