HILTON HEAD, S.C. – Colleen Jackson scored six goals as Centre women's lacrosse won its eighth game in a row, leaving Hope behind in a massive 15-3 victory in South Carolina.
The Gaithersburg, Md., native and latest Colonel to join the 100-goal club matched a career-high, helping Centre improve to 8-1 overall while dropping the Flying Dutch to 3-3.
Centre has now out-scored opponents 147-45 during its current winning streak, with all eight games decided by double digits.
Jackson had an early hat trick Tuesday, scoring three of Centre's first seven goals as the Colonels raced out to a 7-0 lead midway through the opening period.
Hope would score back-to-back goals to break the shutout, but Centre carried a sizeable 10-2 margin into the halftime break.
Haden Gibbons (Chattanooga, Tenn.) scored two of her three goals in the second half, as Centre coasted to a 15-3 decision. Gibbons finished the game with four points, adding one assist.
Fellow senior Hannah Bellamah (Loveland, Ohio) finished with two goals and three assists, finishing with at least five points for the sixth time this season.
Natalie Marek (Louisville, Ky.) and the Centre defense held their opponent to single digits for the seventh time this season. Marek recorded five saves in goal for the Colonels.
Centre returns home and resumes Southern Athletic Association action this Sunday, hosting Berry at 11 a.m. ET at South Turf Field.
