Centre women open indoor track season at DePauw Invite

GREENCASTLE, Ind. - The Centre women's track and field team began its 2018 season by sending a partial squad to DePauw University for the first of two consecutive meets there. The Colonels finished eighth out of 12 teams at the DePauw Indoor Invitational.

The Centre women ended their first meet of the year with 36 points. The first scoring event for the Colonels came in the 400m where sophomore Hannah Jazdzewski (Lexington, Ky.) placed seventh overall with a time of 1:05.48. In the 800m, freshman Camille Mangold (Lexington, Ky.) posted a time of 2:36.05, good for sixth place overall.

Sophomore Olivia Honaker (Brandenburg, Ky.) got the Colonels into the scoring column in the 3000m, finishing seventh overall with a time of 11:24.07. Centre's 4x200m relay squad picked up four points with a fifth place finish of 1:57.33.

In the high jump, senior Emily Winkler (Louisville, Ky.) had an impressive 2018 debut, finishing third overall by clearing 5-01.25. 2017 Second Team All-SAA pole vaulter Taylor Singleton (Hendersonville, N.C.) finished third in the season's first pole vault competition with a clear of 10-06.00. In the long jump, sophomore Molly O'Dea (Louisville, Ky.) placed sixth overall with a mark of 15-02.25. O'Dea did even better in the triple jump, as the program's triple jump record holder placed second in the season opener by clearing 34-11.25.

SAA shot put champion Aja Leachman (Louisville, Ky.) finished seventh in her 2018 debut with a toss of 36-00.25.

Next up for the Colonels will be their second trip to DePauw in a week as they compete in the DePauw Indoor Classic on Feb. 17.
