Centre volleyball falls twice in Rose-Hulman Tournament

The Centre volleyball team dropped a pair of matches to Millikin and Rose-Hulman on day one of the Rose-Hulman Tournament Saturday, Sept. 15 in Terre Haute, Ind.

The Colonels fell in three games in their opening match against Millikin. Centre led 19-12 in each of the first two games, but the Big Blue rallied to win both 25-22 and 26-24 before winning 25-20 in game three for the 3-0 win.

Sophomore Celia Moser (Troy, Ohio) tallied eight kills and two blocks. Sophomore Suzanne Asbury (Louisville, Ky.) added seven kills and four blocksl. Senior Jenna Foushee (Louisville, Ky.) had 15 digs and junior Kary Stivers (Louisville, Ky.) finished with 19 assists and two service aces.

The Colonels won game one against Rose-Hulman 25-23, but fell in games two and three 25-21 and 25-11. A 25-20 win in game four forced a deciding fifth game, but the Engineers outlasted Centre 15-9 for the 3-2 win.

Freshman Jessica Peak (Owensboro, Ky.) posted 10 kills and three blocks, while junior Catherine Janszen (Cincinnati, Ohio) ended with 25 digs and four service aces.

The Colonels will look to rebound on day two of the tournament as they will play DePauw at 11 a.m. followed by a match against Defiance at 1 p.m.
